December 29, 1996
- The text of the Guatemalan peace agreement (signed today) can
be found at the Pagina Oficial de la Paz en Guatemala listed
in the Government section of our
Guatemala page.
December 20, 1996
- The Brazil page has a new link to The
Brazilian Embassy in Washington in the Academic Research Resources
section. This site offers information on Foreign Policy, Human rights,
Economics, Science & Technology, etc.
- The Latin American Resources section of the Development page now includes Talking
About Development, "an interview series where different professionals,
politicians, grassroots activists, and others, talk about what is development
and how their work fits in with the larger social, political, and economic
framework of the world we live in...".
- The Human Rights page has three new
links: Derechos and Derechos Humanos in the Latin American Resources
section, and Political/Human Rights Information - Ecuador, in the
Other Countries section.
- Six new additions to the Environment
page: "Cruzada por la vida," "Native Americans and the Environment,"
"Inter-American Water Resources Network," and "Amazon Interactive."
As well as "Indice de
Ecologia Urbana," and "EcoWeb" in the new Argentina section.
- Three new links on the Ecuador page:
"Warriors
of the Amazon/The Last Shaman," and "Museo Antropologico" in the
Culture section; and "International Business Practices in Ecuador"
in the Economy section.
- New links on the Networking page
include the Comite Centroamericano de Comunicacion Electronica and
the Reporte de Nodos en Latinoamerica y el Caribe.
- The following University sites have been added to our Colombia page: Federacion Universitaria San
Martin; Universidad Catolica de Oriente; Universidad Industrial de
Santander; and Universidad Santo Tomas de Aquino.
December 19, 1996
- The Human Rights page has a new
Argentina section, including links to First Rights: The state
of individual rights in Argentina, and Hijos, "a human rights
organization which unites the sons and daughters of the disappeared and
politically hounded persons during the last military dicatorship in
Argentina."
- Three new links--the Camara de Diputados, Venezuela en Numeros, and
the Web Turistico de Caracas--have been added to the Venezuela page.
- A greater presence was given to states and cities in the Mexico page. New at the Travel and Tourism
section are links to the cities of Palenque, Queretaro, Michoacan, Mexico
City, Queretaro and Toluca, and also to the Welcome to Mexico page at
TRAVEL.org. Also, new under the States and Cities section are
links to the pages of Durango, and San Luis Potosi states, and to pages
of cities like Irapuato, Villahermosa, Ciudad Obregon, and Mexico City.
- Other new links in the Mexico page are: a
Geographical Map, and the site of the Servicio Meteorologico Nacional,
Mexico's weather information service, both under the General
section. Finally, the site of the Instituto Mexicano de Tecnologia del
Agua is now part of the Science and Technology section.
- Venezuela en Numeros can now be found at the Statistics page.

- The Languages page has three new
links to Ethnologue Database: Aymaran, in the Aymara section; to
Peru: Languages, in the Quechuan section; and to Colegio
Universitario Andino, in the Spanish Schools section.
- The Universities Francisco Marroquin and Universidad del Valle, from
Guatemala have been added to the Country Resources section of our
Higher Education page.
December 17, 1996
- Our Publications page has six new
links to: Editorial Televisa, Fondo de Desarrollo Editorial Universidad
de Lima, Instituto de Ecologia Catalogo de Publicaciones, Instituto de
Investigaciones Juridicas Catalogo de Publicaciones,
McGraw-Hill-Catalogo, and Universidad Anahuac-Publicaciones; in the
Publishers & Bookdealers Regional Resources section. Also a link
to PAHO publications has been added under the International
Organizations section.
- The Curriculo of the Especialidad de Bibliotecologia de la
Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru, has been added to the
Schools & Research Institutions section of our Libraries page.
- The Guyana page has been updated. You
will now find four new links to Guyana Gateway, Guyana: A Brief Look, The
Stabroek News of Guyana and Lonely Planet's Destination: Guyana.
- Todo Sobre el HIV/Sida is now in the Regional Health Organizations
& Networks section of our Health page.

- Our Travel page has now two links to
Lineas Aereas de America Latina y el Mundo, and Los Principales Hoteles
de America Latina en el Web, both in the Regional Resources
section.
- The site Seccion: Educacion e Investigacion from Argentina, has
been added to the Country Resources section of our K-12 and Higher
Education pages. This page also has 11 new links to Educacion:
Universidades, under the Regional Resources section, and to the
following universities: Universidad de Belgrano, Universidad del
Salvador, Universidad Nacional de Cordoba Web Central, Universidad
Nacional de Cuyo-Web Central and Facultad de Ciencias Medicas,
Universidad Nacional de Entre Rios, Universidad Nacional de Rosario,
Universidad Nacional de San Juan, Universidad Nacional de San
Luis, Universidad Nacional de La Plata-Programa Regional

- The Languages page, has two new

- A link to the library system of the Universidad Autonoma de
Baja California can be found under the Academic section of the Mexico page.
- A link to the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed
Officials Educational Fund (LANEO) can now be found at the Hispanic/Latino page.
- The Argentina page now has the
following resources:
Instituto Balseiro, in the Science & Technology section,
Index.AR: Revistas, in the Magazines & Periodicals section,
and
Index.AR: Mapas, in the Travel & Turism section.
We have a new section entitled Internet & Connectivity with
information on the evolution, infrastructure and functionality of the
internet in Argentina, including E-mail and Connectivity, Internet en la
Argentina, The List-Argentina, NSRC Argentina (State
of the Network Updates) and Preguntas Comunmente Aparecidas en las Redes de
Argentinos.
There is a second new section called Discussion Groups which includes
news:soc.culture.argentina and Index.AR: Grupos de Discusion, IRC y Listas de
Interes. The latter is a collection of various discussion groups, chat rooms
and listservs.
December 13, 1996
- Experiencia, a Spanish language School in Morelos, Mexico, has been
added to the Spanish section, of our Languages page.
- The Peru page, has now a link to
Machupicchu: A Strugle for balance, under the Travel & Tourism
section.
- The program Horizonte Informatica Educativa, has been added to the
Teachers' Resources section of our K-12
page.
The same page has a link to Hatch Winik Home Page, a web site of the
Lancandon Maya communities, under the Regional Resources section.
- The International Resources section of the Development page has a new link to
International Development Co-operation, a meta-index to
international resources related to aid, trade, economy, humanity,
research, international relations, health, women's development, nutrition,
education, ecology, demography, human rights, development policy, etc.
- Bolivia has two new links to El Batan de
Lupe Andrade and La Estrella del Oriente, both in the News section.
- Two new links to the Municipilidad de Asuncion and the Asocicacion
Nacional Republicano Partido Colorado have been added to the
Government section of the Paraguay page.

- The Other Countries section of the Art
page now includes a link to La Biblioteca Virtual de la Biblioteca Luis
Angel Arango, Bogota, Colombia.
- Two links have been added to the International Resources section
of the Development page:
Design Participation (Urban technology, architecture, housing and habitat)
and Forum on Developing Countries (Education and communication for planning
and design).
The Other Countries section of this page now includes a study
entitled: Urban Improvement of the Barrio Brisas de Turumu (Caracas,
Venezuela).
- The Indigenous page has a new
resource on the Fundacion Dobbo Yala of Panama in the Latin American
Country & Regional Resources section. The Dobbo Yala Foundation
was founded by indigenous professionals in order to address "Indigenous
development and the conservation of the environment." In the Maya
section, you will now find Hach Winik: Lacandon Maya Communities.
- The site Law Schools-Latin America has been added to the Regional
Resources section of our Higher
Education page. The same page has also a link to Spectrum Virtual
University, in the Distance Education course section.
- Our Libraries page has five new links
to: NASIG, in the Library Associations International Resources
section; to DigLibns, Redial-l, and University of California Report on
Digital Libraries, in the Newsgroups & Network Resources section; to the
Latin American Library from Tulane University, in the Online
catalogs section; and to the Ecole de Bibliotheconomie from
Universite de Montreal, in the Library Schools section.
- The K-12 page, has now four new links to:

- The report Reforma del Sector Educacion, has been added to the

page.

Informacion de Ayudas y Becas, has been added to the Grants &

Education page. In the same page, the Universidad Catolica
Boliviana, has been added to the Colleges, and Universities section.
- The homepage and online catalog of the National Library of Canada,
can now be found in the Online catalogs international section of
our Libraries page.
- The Travel page has now a link to the
Guatemala Web, under the Country Resources section.
- The Ministerio de Cultura y Educacion de la Nacion from Argentina, has
been added to the Schools by Country section of our K-12 page.
- The site Welcome to the Spanish World: Access through Practice, has
been added to the Spanish section of our Languages page.
- The journal Espéculo: Revista de estudios literarios, has been
added to the Regional Resources section, of our Literature page.

- UT El Paso MEChA's 1910! page, a compilation of resources and
pictures about the Mexican Revolution, is now under the Other
Resources section of the Mexico page.
- Two important Peruvian newspapers, El Comercio and Expreso, have been
added to the News & Periodicals section of our Peru page.
- The NAFTA resources page has been updated and redesigned. You will
find it now as a new section of the Mexico page.
- The Publications page, has now a link to
Fondo de Cultura Economica under the Publishers & Bookdealers
section.
- The Online catalogs section of our Libraries page has now twelve new links to:
