organization.

- Pope John Paul II is to arrive in Cuba today
for a historic visit, and you can follow him from a variety of
perspectives with our special section on news coverage. More than 2,000
journalists from around the world are there, but our section links to
reports especially from the United States and Latin America.
Some highlights:
- The New York Times offers comprehensive coverage, including
links to articles dating to the 1960s;
- The Dallas Morning News has articles translated into Spanish;
- CNN has live audio/video in English and Spanish, and Rede
Globo has the same for Portuguese; (download necessary software on
site);
- In addition to daily coverage, The Washington Post has a
reference desk with links to country information and recent news
stories.
- The African Diaspora page now includes
Bobby Vaughn's Black Mexico Home Page, in the
Mexico section. And, in the Caribbean section, Wadabagei: A
Journal of the Caribbean and its Diaspora. This new multidisciplinary
journal published by the Caribbean Diaspora Press, Inc., and the
Caribbean Research Center at Medgar Evers College (CUNY), "will place
special emphasis on the acculturation of Caribbean people in the USA,
Canada and the United Kingdom".

(Instituto de Investigaciones Sociales, Universidad de Costa Rica),
Dialectica (Universidad Autonoma de Puebla, Mexico), Etcetera (Mexico),
Metapolitica (CEPCOM, Centro de Estudios de Politica Comparada, Mexico).
- In the Regional Resources section: the Institute for
Ibero-American Studies, IIK (Hamburg), with German, English and Spanish
versions.
- In the International Resources section: a large list of links
about Nationalism and Globalization and a broad review of sociological
Internet connections in A Sociological Tour Through the Cyberspace.
- In a new Globalization subject section: the Fernand Braudel
Center with the World-Systems Archive.

- Politics is considered the preferred pastime in Puerto Rico, and its web presence is expanding. New
additions to the page include:
- The Popular Democratic Party, which favors the commonwealth status
for the island territory;
- Sen. Kenneth McClintock of the pro-statehood New Progressive Party
has his own page;
- A page dedicated to the late Luis Muñoz Marín, the
first elected governor of Puerto Rico;
- A new elections page by Wilfreid Derksen.
- Some call it vodun, some call it voodoo. This religious system, formed
mostly in Haiti, is now on the homepage, among
