Elections in Mexico - July 2, 2000

As of Thursday, July 6, preliminary official results with 93% of the ballots counted gave Vicente Fox of the National Action Party (PAN) 42.7% of the votes for president, to PRI candidate Francisco Labastida's 35.8%, and Cuauhtemoc Cardenas of the Democratic Revolutionary Party with 16.5%.

Overall, in races for Senate seats, PAN candidates had 38.3% of the votes, PRI candidates 36.3%, and parties running in a coalition with the PRD had 18.8%. In races for seats in the Chamber of Deputies, PAN candidates led with 38.4%, followed by PRI candidates with 36.6%, and the PRD-led coalition with 18.6%.
