PRESENTATION
The Industrial University of Santander -UIS- and the Foundation for Development of the UIS - FUNDEUIS- are convoking to the INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR ON RURAL-URBAN ENVIRONMENTAL INTEGRATION , as a fortunate and productive space for the meditation of all that are involved in sustainable development of rural and urban areas.
The Context of XI Agroexpo and the Second Environmental Hall
Our purpose is to maximize the opportunities represented in the convergence of these events, procuring that the different universities and investigation centers may present to exhibition companies and visitors, both national and international, their scientific and technological advances that could lead to productive projects or cooperation agreements toward innovative developments in the integral sense of the agricultural field.
SUBJECT
A general thematic to conduct through plenary conferences and specific thematic through papers presented at parallel symposiums.
General Thematic
These conferences will deal with the integral analysis of the vital space of the human race, surpassing the traditional separation between the rural and urban space. From the environmental scope, it is expected several propositions to reach the harmonic balance among the natural environment with the constructed and the social-cultural environment, as a permanent scenario to life and with an scope not exclusively anthropocentric.
Symposiums Thematic
I. Agrourban Technological Developments : cleaner production technologies for the agro-industry ; sustainable utilization of biodiversity, among others.
II. Natural Resources Cleaner Management Technologies : technological advances for the integral rural-urban management of solid wastes and natural resources, in special of the soil, water and energy.
III. Holistic Rural-Urban Planification
Prospective analysis toward sharing the space of the cities and rural areas ; local, regional and world visions to demographic, cultural and structure phenomena ; housing and labor ; democracy and government, citizen’s participation, discrimination and international dimension of the rural-urban problems.
IV. Rural-Urban Environmental Integration : territorial relation between city and country, mutual interdependence between specific cities and strategic ecosystems ; integral sustainability between city and physic environment ; transportation and roads integration for cities and country.
V. Systemic Analysis and Informatic Support: decision support systems at different levels in the rural-urban analysis ; experiences and advances using Geographical Information Systems and other tools ; analysis on proper levels of standarization and negotiation, and concerted application of technologies.
PRESENTATION OF SUMMARIES OF THE PONENCIES AND PLENARY CONFERENCES
Summaries : 300 words maximum ; english or spanish language ; send via fax, air mail or electronic mail ; include title, author(s), company/organization, address, phone, fax and email ; define the work as ponency (including in which one) or plenary conference.
Limit date to receive summaries : May 31 of 1997. The Academic Committee of the Seminar will be reviewing the papers at the time they are received and will be informing to their authors about approval through electronic mail and brochures.
COMPLETE DOCUMENTS
15 pages maximum, including graphics, tables and bibliography ; they have to be on white surface paper, without logotypes or page numbers, letter size ; also send 3,5 inches high density diskette copy (or via email). Left, up and down margins with 3 cms, and right margin with 2,5 cms. Title, authors, graphics and tables in one column, letter size equal to 10 cpi. Text and bibliography at two columns, 12 cpi.
Limit date to receive documents to be included at the memories of the seminar : June 20 of 1997. Please include at separate document a summary of the C.V. and audiovisuals requirements for the presentation.
Both the documents and the presentations may be presented in english or spanish ; simultaneous translation will be offered at the plenaries.
