New items availible on UT-LANIC

Dear LASNET members,

We would like to take this opportunity to announce several new items which
have been added to the UT-LANIC gopher server.

1) Mexico's electoral aftermath and political future (conference)

Synthesis/Memoria of the Papers Presented at a Bi-National Conference Held
at The University of Texas at Austin, Sept. 2-3, 1994. The conference was
organized by the Mexican Center of ILAS. The conference covered topics
including the New Electoral Landscape; Reform of the COFIPE; Party Access to
the Media; and Mexico's Political Future.

2) The Universidad Nacional de Ingenieria (UNI) in Managua has recently
opened up Nicaragua's first gopher server. It can be accessed from the
LANIC main menu at:

accessed via LANIC. These include:

For those of you who are new to LASNET and have not yet used UT-LANIC,
here are the instructions for accessing:

UT-LANIC can be accessed via four major interfaces: Gopher client,
E-Mail, Telnet, and World-Wide Web (WWW):

1) Gopher Client:

If you have access to local Internet gopher client software, point
it to:

lanic.utexas.edu 70

If you have access to local UNIX or other Internet hosts, but do
not know if there exists a gopher client on your system, please
try:

gopher lanic.utexas.edu

2) E-Mail Access:

If you only have e-mail access to computer network, just send an
e-mail message without body text to:

gopher@lanic.utexas.edu

UT-LANIC GopherMail Server will automatically reply by sending you
its main gopher menu with brief instruction. Then you may follow
the instructions, and use your e-mail to access UT-LANIC and the
Internet.

3) Telnet Login:

Log on to your local UNIX system or other computer systems with
Internet connection (using VT100 terminal emulation), and type

telnet lanic.utexas.edu
login: lanic

4) Mosaic (WWW):

If you have a WWW client such as Mosaic, point it to:

http://lanic.utexas.edu/
