Ecuador's judiciary

One of my grad students is investigating some pollution litigation that
was being contested in the U.S. and looks like it will be tossed to the
Ecuadorian courts. He is interested in any information, articles, etc.
about Ecuador's judicial system. Also, any theoretical literature on
the judiciary in Latin American in general would be welcome. As this
list is generally to disseminate info widely, please share any
suggestions with the list, but I would appreciate it if you could "cc"
him directly. He is Hans Slette at:

Thanks for your help in advance.
