in collaboration with the

The Ejido Reform Research Project (ERRP) of the
Center for U.S.-Mexican Studies at the
University of California, San Diego (UCSD)

is pleased to announce the availability on the
RIE server at the UAM of a summary of an October
1994 workshop in Queretaro, Mexico on the
transformation of rural Mexico.

The workshop - "Las Reformas Rurales Emergentes"
--was organized by the ERRP in collaboration with
the Universidad Autonoma de Queretaro, and was
attended by more than 100 persons from Mexico,
Canada, and the United States. Summaries of the
56 presentations offered at the workshop, as well
as a directory of presenters, now is available
via the Internet by accessing the ERRP sub-menu
(Proyecto Ejidal-Centro de Estudios Mexico-
Estados Unidos/UCSD) on the RIE main menu located
on the server at the Universidad Autonoma
Metropolitana. In addition to the Queretaro
workshop summary, a brief description of the ERRP
is available. Additional materials of interest
to farm organizations, NGOs, and scholars will be
incorporated soon.

The primary objective of the RIE is to permit
easy access by farm organizations in Mexico to
information pertinent to rural development,
commodity prices, agrarian codes, marketing, and
so forth. In addition to seeking information,
several of these same leading Mexican farm
organizations post to their respective sub-menus
on the RIE information and analysis of public
interest. In addition to drawing on the RIE for
information, scholars are encouraged to share
through the RIE their information about and
analysis of contemporary rural Mexico with
Mexican farm organizations. If you would like to
contribute to the RIE or its participating
organizations, then please contact its
coordinator, Dr. Scott Robinson at:
ssr@xanum.uam.mx
