Hello Maryann,

Could you post this info to Peacenet for us. Our committee
is phoning groups in other states in an effort to educate and
increase pressure on Congress regarding the School of the Americas.

Thanks for your help,

---Rich Trubey

Our human rights committee in Massachusetts is working on
this year's effort to close the U.S. Army School of the Americas at
Fort Benning, Georgia.

For the March 24 (Friday, 10--12) kick-off of the fast on the
steps of the capital, we are hoping to have citizens from all 50 states.
We will have available signs for each state. So far, the following 22
states are sending representatives for Friday morning's event:

AL, AZ, CA, CN, FL, GA, IL, KN, MA, MI, MN, NH, NJ, NM, NY,
OH, PA, SC, TX, VA, WA, WI.

In order to ensure that the other states are not left out,
we are looking for people from the states not represented who work or
study in the Washington DC area. Also, you can ask your Congressional
representative to attend, or send an aid, to represent your state.
For more information, call Ann Eno 508 692-5483.

Other ways you can help:

o Ask your representative to sign onto Joe Kennedy's letter
to President Clinton and Sec. of State Christopher calling
for the closure of the SOA.

o Make sure your representative views the Oscar-nomimated
documentary "School of Assassins." Every member received a
copy on March 10th.

o Participate in a National Call-In Day to President Clinton on
Friday, March 24th (the 15th anniversary of the killing of
Archbishop Romero by SOA graduates)---White House Comment Line:
