Women in Contemporary Politics, International Conference at the University
of Texas, Austin, April 7-8.

This meeting is being organized by the Mexican Center in its cycle of
bi-national conferences 1994-95. Location: Bass Lecture Theatre,
8.45am-5.45pm Friday & Saturday. Simulaneous translation will be provided.

It arises from a major research project directed by Dr. Victoria Rodriguez
(LBJ School of Public Affairs) and focuses upon the various ways in which
women participate in the Mexican political system. Sessions will explore:
Women in Politics Worldwide and in Mexico; The role of Women in Politics in
Mexico specifically (government and the parties); and in Political Life
(feminist organizations, grassroots organizations, non-governmental
organizations, labor unions etc.). The meeting will include both
academic participants as well as more than twenty women from the highest
echelons of political life throughout Mexico.

Although the program is full, the meeting is open to the public without
