I can't respond directly to the LASNET, because I'm using a system other
than the one on which I first subscribed, but you should pass this on to the
rest of the LASNETeros.
The Cuba and marijuana story was a complete fake, including the fake (AP)
registry. I sent an unkind note to the person who created it... his/her
address is on the original message... and received a smug, snide response
alleging, essentially, that "no one with any sense could have believed that
it was real." Unfortunately, I deleted it, in anger, before I could
forward it.
This is unfortunately one of the problems with both unmoderated fora and
with the ease with which one can fake authenticity in this medium. I hope
that someone will call this fakery to the attention of the AP, whose lawyers
ought to find it very interesting.
