This summer I will be travelling in the countries of Argentina, Chile,
and Uruguay to study several women authors: Marta Lynch, Silvina
Bullrich, Maria Luisa Bombal, Isabel Allende, Cristina Peri Rossi, and
Sylvia Lago. Specifically, I will be studying the lives and experiences
of these authors and external influences on their work, such as the role
of women in their respective societies, or the social and political
history of the country.
My study project has been approved and I am in the process of collecting
helpful information regarding the authors, the countries, and contacts
that might be able to provide information or assiistance to me when I
arrive. I am hoping to visit area museums, universities, and talk with
scholars who can help expand my knowledge of the subject.
