My family and I are about to go to Chiapas in Mexico, where my wife will
be undertaking fieldwork for her PhD. I was wondering if anyone could
advise me about any possibnle paid/voluntary work with NGOs or similar
organisations, or other forms of paid work, particularly translation work.

I am fluent in Spanish and hold a Diploma in Translation from the
Institute of Linguists in London. I have worked as a translator for,
amongst others, the United Nations High Commission on Refugees and the
Council for Latin American Refugees in San Jose de Costa Rica. By trade
I am a freelance editor/lexicographer for various publishing houses in
the U.K.

I have a Masters in Latin American Studies from the Institute of Latin
American Studies in London and last year lived in Costa Rica, where I was
writing for the political periodical Mesoamerica. I am active in
Edinburgh in Latin American Solidarity groups.

I would appreciate any suggestions or help.
