The Campaign for Peace & Life in Guatemala
*** Action Alert ***
The expected October, 1995 completion of the Clinton
Administration's investigation into the CIA's actions in
Guatemala gives us a unique chance to demand: a complete break
in the relationship between our government and human rights
abusers, an overhaul of our intelligence laws, and the complete
disclosure of information on all human rights cases involving
CIA-paid individuals and institutions.
We must not let this opportunity to demand changes slip by!
That is why we are asking activists around the country to:
1) submit opinion pieces and letters the editor to your
local paper NOW, and then later once the investigation is
complete (if printed, clip and send to your legislators),
2) use TALK RADIO to get a strong, pro-human rights message
on the airwaves,
3) gather signatures for a petition to President Clinton on
this issue, and
4) sign up to be a member of a "Rapid Reaction Team" that
will immediately stage local vigils and protests once the Clinton
Administration's investigation is released. Members of this Team
will receive immediate notification of the report's pending
release.
If you would like to receive a packet of materials that will help
you and fellow Guatemala supporters carry out these activities,
call us right away at 202-462-3935 or send an e-mail request to
epica@igc.apc.org.
