The set of ideas developed in Europe spread out to different parts of the
world. Latin American societies were one of the recipients of these ideas.
There they were transformed and adapted to different situations. The workshop
aims to discuss the ideas that were imported and how they were used and
transformed. This can be undertaken through examples of institutions,
intellectuals, statesmen, political parties, social reformers and other groups.
