In my earlier posting, I might have seemed as if I held a negative view
of FHC and his current policies, especially in light of what he proposed
in the passed. However, I do agree with Michael S., that given the
circumstances, FHC is doing a pretty damn good job, especially in
comparison to the previous democratic and military administrations.
Conducting major transitions in macroeconomic structures and policies is
often painful for a great many in the population, but thus far the
changes appear to be bringing about long-term stability, new investments,
increasing international trade, and ample room for economic growth. Of
course, this is all easily supported from my position since I am not one
of the millions of impoverished Brazilians. However, I believe that FHC's
long-term plan will improve their plight as well as the macroeconomic
indicators.
