ALARA (Afro-Latin American Research Assoc) is a new and dynamic
organization of scholars working in the field of African American
Studies. It is the American section of the International African Amer.
Research Assoc. We seek to establish African Amer. studies as a field
distinguished by being international, interdisciplinary, inter-ethnic,
comparative, and collegial.

Our first international research conference will be held in Salvador-
Bahia-Brasil, Aug 19-25, 1996

Abstracts of papers interpreting the African diaspora in the Americas
(inc. the US) in the fields of Art, History, Pedagogy, Anthropology,
Folklore, Literature, Geography, Linguistics, Economics, Politics,
Ecology, Religion, Music and other disciplines should be sent
by APRIL 15 1996.
