Re: Amendment to close the SOA
URGENT
Father Roy Bourgeois from the SOAWATCH, just notified our office,
that Rep. Torres (D-California) has introduced an amendment to the
FOREIGN AID BILL, that calls for a cut in funding to the
U.S. Army School of the Americas. Without funding, the School
of Assassins, as it is known, would have to close.
The Appropiations Committee will vote on this on tuesday June 24th,
(next week), from the 60 members in the Committe, we need 30 to vote
Yes in order for the amendment to pass, 26 are already committed to
do so, we need the yes votes on four more, your calls to the
following Representatives are very important at this time:
Rep. George Nethercutt (R- 5th District Spokane,Washington)
Rep. Julian Dixon (D-32nd. District,Los Angeles,California)
Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen (11th District New Jersey)
Rep. Marcy Kaptur (9th District Ohio)
Rep.Peter Zisclofky (1st District D, Indiana)
All of you who live in the above districts, please call. All of you
who know others who do, please forward this to them urging them
to call.
