CALL FOR PAPERS: Every spring, the Latin American Studies Program at
Birmingham-Southern College hosts an international undegraduate research
conference focusing on Latin American topics. If you are an undegraduate
student, we encourage you to submit a one-page abstract for a paper
involving original research. All topics relating to Latin America are
welcome. If you are a faculty member, please encourage your students to
participate in this major event. Your students will gain critical skills,
especially if they are planning to go to graduate school. In the past,
faculty members who brought students to present papers also participated in
the conference as panel chairs and discussants. In some cases, faculty
members proposed and organized their own panels with presenters from their
institutions.
SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS: Because of its focus on undegraduate research, only
undergraduate students are encouraged to present papers. Please submit your
abstract with a paper title to the address below. DEADLINE: January 30,
1998.
REGISTRATION: There is no registration fee to attend the conference.
However, participants will be asked to preregister in order to be included
in the luncheons and special receptions that the College will host during
the conference. The College will also provide assistance in transportation
from the airport to the hotel.
