TRIAL ATTORNEY/GS-13 to GS-15
The Land Acquisition Section of the Environment and Natural Resources
Division, U.S.
Department of Justice, is seeking one experienced attorney to review and
approve titles for
federal land acquisitions and to represent the United States in
condemnation cases when
there is a serious question as to ownership.
The Land Acquisition Section, based in Washington, D.C., is responsible
for acquiring land,
either by direct purchase or through condemnation proceedings, for use by
the Federal
Government for purposes ranging from establishing public parks to creating
missile sites.
The Section's attorneys seek to implement the protection of the Fifth
Amendment in a way
which is fair both to property owners and taxpayers.
Applicants must possess a J.D. degree, be duly licensed and authorized to
practice as an
attorney under the laws of a state, territory, or the District of Columbia,
and have at least
three years of post-J.D. legal experience. Two or more of the following
are highly desirable: a background in real estate practice and/or title
work involving a variety of different types of
properties and transactions on a national level; federal litigation
experience; a background in environmental, natural resources and/or
administrative law; and experience working with
or for federal agencies. Some travel may be required.

GS-13 ($58,027 - $75,433) to GS-15
