* Literate women were given the right to vote and to stand for election in 1938. These rights were given
to all women in 1952.
** The Constitutions of 1939, 1948, and 1950 indicated that a law would determine when women would be
given the right to vote. That right was established by the Electoral Law of 1950 and enshrined in the
Constitution of 1955.
