Definitions: Equity capital outflows occur when a U.S. parent company increases its equity investment in one of its existing foreign affiliates or makes a new equity investment in a foreign business ent erprise. Capital inflows, indicated by negative figures, occur when a U.S. parent company reduces its equity interest in an existing affiliate. Sub-regional groupings: French Islands, Caribbean, consist of Guadeloupe and Martinique. U.K. Island s, Caribbean, consist of Anguilla, the British Virgin Islands, the Cayman Islands, Montserrat, and the Turks and Caicos Islands.

Notes: The letter "d" signifies that the data have been suppressed to avoid disclosure of data specific to individual companies. The symbol "*" signifies an amount less than $500,000. &qu ot;Unallocated" is the sum of all suppressed data (i.e. the difference between the LAC total, which includes suppressed figures, and the sum of the four regional totals, which do not include suppressed figures.
