[Excerpt]  Our commander in Chief Fidel Castro, president of the Council of
State and Council of Ministers, yesterday received in special audience
Michel Poniatowski, who arrived in Cuba as special representative of French
President Valery Giscard d'Etaing.

Poniatowski conveyed to Fidel a message from the French president and made
a detailed explanation of the French position concerning the most important
problems in the international situation, which was then the object of an
intensive exchange of viewpoints.

Cuban-French bilateral relations were examined during the talk, and both
sides expressed satisfaction with the economic, scientific and technical
cooperation programs being developed between both countries.
