[Text] Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, first secretary of the party
Central Committee and president of the Councils of State and Ministers,
presented in a solemn ceremony the gold star of Hero of the Republic of
Cuba and the Order of Maximo Gomez, First Grade, to Division Generals
Abelardo Colome Ibarra and Arnaldo Ochoa Sanchez.

The ceremony took place at the former municipal town hall of the cradle of
the revolution [Santiago de Cuba] in the presence of Army General Raul
Castro Ruz, second secretary of the Central Committee and minister of the
FAR, and members and alternate members of the Politburo and Secretariat.

The commander in chief read resolution Nos 250 and 251, bestowing the
decorations on Division Generals Abelardo Colome Ibarra, alternate member
of the Politburo and deputy minister of the FAR, and Arnaldo Ochoa Sanchez,
Central Committee member. The documents describe the extraordinary merits
of these revolutionary fighters.
