[Text] On 24 March, Cuban President Fidel Castro condemned the assassination of Luis Donaldo Colosio, presidential candidate for the Institutional Revolutionary Party of Mexico. This is the full text of the message sent by Castro to Mexican President Carlos Salinas de Gortari:

Your Excellency Carlos Salinas de Gortari, president of the United States of Mexico:

Your Excellency: Deeply moved by the tragic news of the attack and death of Luis Donaldo Colosio, presidential candidate of the Institutional Revolutionary Party, I write to you to express our consternation, pain, and condemnation of such an unjustifiable act. In this difficult and bitter moment for Mexico, we hope this brotherly people will find all the wisdom, serenity, and energy necessary to overcome the difficulties and leave behind this hard and crucial test of history.

I beg of you to convey to the widow, children, and other relatives of Luis Donaldo Colosio our most sincere condolences. To you and the Mexican people, our most sincere feelings of friendship.
