Fellowships, Grants, and Research Opportunities
Scholarships for Graduate Women. The Study Abroad Office has scholarships available to women applicants in any academic field who are pursuing studies in a Pan American country. Applicants must be legal residents of Texas. Applications available in C RD, room 23. For more information call 471-6490. Deadline for application: Dec. 1, 1995.
Fulbright Grants. The Study Abroad Office is holding information sessions for the 1996-97 Fulbright competition. Students currently enrolled at UT-Austin should contact Dr. Ivy McQuiddy in Carothers Residence Hall, room 23. Sessions are Sept. 6 at 3: 30 p.m. and Sept. 7 at 11:00 a.m. Applications must be completed and turned in to the Study Abroad Office by Sept. 22, 1995.

NEH Summer 1996 Faculty Research. Applications for summer stipends for research in the humanities are due Oct. 1. Summer stipends provide support for faculty and staff of two-, four-, and five-year colleges, and for independent scholars in the humanities to pursue two consecutive months of full-time study and research. Academic applicants must be nominated by their institution. For projects not requiring travel the award is $4,000; with travel, $4,750. Research Grant Program Changes. The responsibilities of the University Research Institute are being split between the offices of the Vice President for Research and the Vice President and Dean of Graduate Studies. The Office of the Vice President for Research announces that it will now handle the Research Grants and Special Research Grants, while the Faculty Research Assignments and Summer Research Assignments will be handled in the Graduate School. Call for Papers for Institute of Early American History and Culture, Second Annual Conference, University of Colorado, Boulder, May 31-June 2, 1996. The Institute invites proposals for papers and panels and particularly workshops in teaching new an d old topics in early American history and culture. The Institute's field of interest encompasses all aspects of the lives of North America's indigenous and immigrant peoples during the colonial, Revolutionary, and early national periods of the United St ates and the related histories of Canada, the Caribbean, Latin America, the British Isles, Europe, and Africa from the sixteenth century to approximately 1815. Ten copies of submissions, not exceeding three pages and accompanied by a short-form c.v., shou ld be sent to Prof. Gloria L.
