Fellowships, Grants, and Research Opportunities
IFaculty Development Program 1996 Summer Research Assignments. Provide faculty members with equivalent of 2 months' salary (based on 1995-96 academic base rate) while they concentrate on research and writing during the entire 1996 summer session. A wards are usually made only to assistant professors, although all tenure-track and tenured faculty are eligible to apply. IFulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad Program. To be eligible, a student must be a citizen, national, or permanent resident of the United States; admitted to candidacy in a doctoral degree program in a modern foreign language or are a study at UT-Austin; and planning a teaching career in the United States upon graduation. Latin American area applicants are to submit 8 copies of the completed application (collated) to Anne Dibble, SRH 1.301, on or before Oct. 10, 1995 . IFaculty Development Program 1996-97 Faculty Research Assignments. IFulbright Scholar-in-Residence Program
. Liberal arts colleges, community and junior colleges, institutions serving minority populations, and institutions devoted primarily to undergraduate education are encouraged to submit institutional proposals to host a visiting Fulbright lecturer in the arts, humanities, social sciences, or in a professional field for a semester or academic year during 1996-97. Program is intended to initiate or develop international programs at colleges and universities by usin g a scholar in residence to internationalize the curriculum, set up global studies or area-specific programs, or otherwise expand contacts of students and faculty with other cultures. IKellogg Institute Residential Fellowships, 1996-97.
Up to 6 residential fellowships of one or two semesters at the University of Notre Dame. Fellows work on individual or joint research projects related to the institute's themes of democratization an d the quality of democracy, paths to development, religion and the Catholic Church, social movements and organized civil society, and public policies for social justice and take part in institute seminars and other meetings. IThird World Media, "Imagined Communities," and the Public Sphere Fellowships

IJohn Carter Brown Library at Brown University 1995-96 Research Fellowships. Short-term fellowships are available for two- to four-month periods and carry a stipend of $1,000/month. Open to foreign nationals and U.S. citizens engaged in pre- and po stdoctoral or independent research. Graduate students must have passed their preliminary or general examinations at time of application. Long-term fellowships, funded by NEH, are for six months and carry a stipend of approximately $2,600/month. Applicants may not be engaged in graduate work and must be U.S. citizens or have resided in the United States for the three years immediately preceding the term of the fellowship. IInternational Predissertation Fellowships from Social Science Research Council and American Council of Learned Societies.
