Fellowships, Grants, and Research Opportunities

Gender in Global Perspective: A Graduate Training Program, a University at Albany, SUNY project provides assistantships for M.A. degree students who will concentrate in fields offering opportunities for gender-focused spe cialties. Open to students who have been admitted to a University at Albany M.A. program for Fall 1990. Award includes tuition and $8,000 stipend . Administrated by Center for Latino, Latin American, and Caribbean Studies in collaboration with the Institu te for Research on Women. The David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies, Harvard University, offers grants to enable faculty from non-research universities in the U.S. to use the resources of the Latin American library in the summer of 1999. Two awards of up to $3,000 will be made to help cover travel and living expenses of visiting scholars. Send a letter of application, a 2-3 page project proposal, a letter of reference, application form, budget for travel and living expenses and C.V. to Hilar y Burger, DRCLAS, 61 Kirkland St., Cambridge, MA 02138. Proposals should explain the specific resources in the Harvard University collection that will be consulted, and indicate how use of the collections will enhance the applicant's research or curriculu m development at his or her institution. Summer 1999 Library Travel Grants. The Center for Latin American Studies at the University of Florida offers grants that enable researchers from other U.S. universities to use the resources of the Latin American Collection of UF libraries. Three awards of up to $750 each to cover travel and living expenses of faculty members and graduate students. To apply, send a letter of intent, brief library research proposal, travel budget, and a C. V. to: Dr. Martha E. Davis, Associate Dire ctor, Center for Latin American Studies, P.O. The Mexican Center of ILAS offers travel awards to Ph.D. researchers who are faculty members of Mexican universities or advanced research centers to enable them to use the academic and library resources of UT-Austin. For researchers with advanced rank on the staff of Mexican art museums, the professional title may be substituted for the doctorate. Up to $1,000 U.S. is available for reimbursement for expenses incurred in transportation, lodging, and meals.
