Fellowships, Grants, and Research Opportunities

FLAS: Summer 1999 Foreign Language and Area Study Fellowship for Portuguese language study at UT-Austin or Kaqchikel language study through Tulane University. Gender in Global Perspective: A Graduate Training Program, a University at Albany, SUNY, project provides assistantships for M.A. degree students who will specialize in fields that offer opportunities for gender-focused specialties. Open to students who have been admitted to a University at Albany M.A. program for Fall 1999. Award includes tuition and a stipend of $8,000. Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowship, Latin American Studies Research Librarian, 1999-2000. The Center for International Library Programs at Duke University, supported by a grant from the Andrew W. UC-San Diego Special Fellowships for Studies of Economic Integration and the U.S.-Mexico Border Environment. The Center for U.S.- Mexican Studies announces a call for interdisciplinary research proposals focusing on border environmental issues relating to water, environmental health, natural resource management, and land-use. Researchers will participate as Visiting Research Fellows in the Center's ongoing project, "Economic Integration and the Environment: Promoting Sustainable Development Along the U.S.-Mexican Border." Residential Fellowships will begin as early as Sept. 1999 and as late as Jan. 2000.
