Chief of Party for U.S.-Mexico Judicial Exchange Program,
National Center for State Courts, Mexico City. The successful
candidate will organize bilateral conferences, manage court-to-court
exchanges, and develop seminars and workshops for judges and
court personnel on a variety of court management and judicial
reform topics. Candidates must be bilingual in English/Spanish
and possess extensive knowledge of U.S. judicial procedures,
court management, court technology, and judicial education programs.
Knowledge of the Mexican legal/judicial system and recent judicial
reform programs is important. An advanced degree is preferred.
Period of contract will run through September 2000, or longer,

Unlocking the Secrets of Ancient Writing: The Parallel
Lives of Michael Ventris and Linda Schele and the Decipherment
of Mycenaean and Mayan Writing, an exhibit in the Benson
Latin American Collection Rare Books Room that examines two of
the most famous decipherments of ancient writing of the last
century. Items are included from the collections of the UT Classics

FELLOWSHIPS, GRANTS, AND RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES
Summer Library Research Fellowship in Latin American Studies,
Cornell University, Ithaca, NY. One $1,500 grant to a college
teacher conducting research in Latin American Studies during
the summer of 2000. The fellow is expected to be in residence
at Cornell as a Visiting Scholar for a minimum of one month.
