Objectives
The objective of this seminar is to familiarize the delegates in New
York with the critical importance of issues related to world intellectual
property, its impact on societies at the international, national and
local level, the role of WIPO in promoting the intellectual property
rights and transfer of technology. The workshop also intends to raise
awareness of the influence of intellectual property on the economic,
social, cultural and technological developments of countries.
Organization
Over one and a half days, participants will follow lectures and
participate in discussions on intellectual property management and its
role in fostering economic development. The workshop will focus on:
(a) an
overview of the concept, historical development and future trends in
international property rights;
(b) WIPO's programme of cooperation for
development as well as services provided by the Organization to its
Member States.
