Workshop on
diplomatic report writing
United Nations Headquarters,
New York
Objectives
The drafting of reports, briefs and statements is a crucial part of a
diplomat's professional tasks and, in view of the complexity of the
subjects addressed, among the most difficult. This workshop thus aims at
familiarizing participants with the basic principles of report writing
and the analytical skills required, as well as the structural aspects
involved in reports exchanged between missions and capitals, and vice versa.
Organization
This workshop focuses on practical exercises and requires the
participants' intensive and active involvement. The participants should
therefore come prepared for hands-on training exercises. In particular,
they will be asked to form working groups to draft a number of reports
which will in due course be individually analysed and commented upon.
