LANIC Sponsorship & Giving Opportunities

The Latin American Network Information Center (LANIC) at the Teresa Lozano Long Institute of Latin American Studies, College of Liberal Arts, The University of Texas at Austin, is the premier Internet directory/portal specialized in delivering filtered, organized, content-rich information about Latin America. LANIC believes the Internet should serve as an easy-to-navigate tool to access information for education, business, culture, and citizenship.
Since 1992, LANIC's subject-matter experts have sought out and evaluated hundreds of thousands of sites for possible inclusion in the LANIC directory, thereby eliminating the need for its users to do so. Our approximately 10,000 Web links--to content to, from, or on Latin America--are carefully selected, precisely organized, and routinely updated to create a list of the very best Web resources available for each of 82 subjects and 42 Latin American and Caribbean countries. Valued as an important, time-saving research tool, LANIC has become one of the most trusted Internet sources for the region.
In addition to its award-winning directory, the LANIC site contains a broad array of resources aimed at facilitating research on Latin America. These include a large number of hosted data bases and full-text resources on regional issues ranging from the economy to historical sources and data sets, as well as a virtual art gallery, a jobs data bank, and targeted topical sites. Currently there are over 100,000 full-text content pages and close to half a million database records hosted on LANIC servers. Our partners include such prestigious organizations as:
- Association of Research Libraries (ARL)
- Consejo Latinoamericano de Ciencias Sociales (CLACSO)
- Facultad Latinoamericana de Ciencias Sociales (FLACSO)
- Inter-American Development Bank (IDB)
- Internet Archive (IA)
- Latin Americanist Research Resources Project (LARRP)
- Sistema Económico Latinoamericano (SELA)
On the strength of its portal content and its directory, as of early 2010 access to LANIC was averaging over 5.4 million hits per month. LANIC offers potential sponsors the opportunity not only to support high-quality Internet services, but also to reach a uniquely targeted market.
