The Center for the Study of Western Hemispheric Trade is a consortium
of four Texas universities (University
of Texas at Austin, University
of Texas at El Paso, Texas
A&M University in College Station, and Texas
A&M International University in Laredo) that was established
to further the study of trade and investment between and among
Western Hemisphere countries. It was initiated in collaboration
with the Customs Service
of the U.S. Department of the
Treasury. Each year one or more visiting specialists are
brought to the university to give courses and seminars in this
field. The CSWHT Visiting Professor for spring 2000 will be Alejandro
Ibarra of ITESM, Monterrey, N.L., Mexico. During his stay in
Austin, Professor Ibarra can be reached through the Mexican
Center of the Institute
of Latin American Studies (512) 232-2423. Information on
the CSWHT operations at the other participating universities
should be obtained directly from those campuses. |
